D'Elle - From Sculpture to Movement

This series looks at the moment when sculpture turns back into movement.
Each session started with a work by the French sculptor Antoine Bourdelle. The models first tried to reproduce the sculpture as faithfully as they could, paying attention to its balance, tensions, architectural structure. Once that initial position had settled into the body, they left it behind and improvised, letting movement grow out of the energy already held in the pose.
The photographs follow that slow shift. A fixed form turns unstable. Balance gives way. Muscular tension unfolds into gesture. What starts as imitation slowly turns into something genuinely the model's own.
Rather than recreating Bourdelle's sculptures, the series looks at the space between permanence and impermanence, between the stillness of carved stone and the life in a moving body.
What comes out of it shows sculpture as something other than a finished object: a source of movement, an impulse able to generate gestures that go beyond the original work.
