Fairies

Inspired by Duchamp's Nude Descending a Staircase and Irish folklore, this series developed over nearly ten years with around twenty models. Each session began with improvised movement, guided by music chosen either by myself or by the model. Long exposures combined with successive flashes allowed several moments to coexist within a single frame. After each session, the images were extensively reworked by hand, reinforcing colours, shadows and traces of movement. The title Fairies refers to bodies that appear, dissolve and return within the same photograph, suspended between visibility and disappearance.
