Spatial Investigations — Inhabiting Space

Inhabiting Space looks at the relationship between movement and architectural limits.
Each model improvised inside the narrow confines of a domestic corridor. The walls, doors and floor were not a neutral backdrop — they acted as partners in shaping each gesture. Every movement grew out of a constant back-and-forth with the surrounding space.
As the sessions went on, the body stopped moving through the corridor and started living in it. Surfaces became points of support, resistance, balance. The architecture stopped containing the body and started shaping its movements.
Each model faced the same environment, yet every encounter produced its own physical vocabulary. The series shows how space is never experienced the same way twice, it gets continually reshaped by the presence, perception and imagination of whoever moves through it.
Rather than limiting expression, the architectural constraint turns out to be exactly the condition that new gestures need in order to appear.
