Mythic Bodies - Eurydice - The one who wakes in the dark

This series began with a text by writer Michel Maurel imagining Eurydice waking alone in the underworld after her final separation from Orpheus. I shared the text with the model and invited her to improvise her own response. The photographs were made against a white background chosen to evoke the Greek underworld without describing it. There was no choreography. Each gesture grew from the model's own reading of the text, moving between hope, loss and the possibility of returning for a brief moment before disappearing again.
