Errance - Northern Drift

Northern Drift gathers photographs made over several years in Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Ireland and Scotland.
These islands differ in history and geography but share the same experience of travel. Weather shifts constantly. Distances are hard to judge. The sea is rarely far, even when it is out of sight. Walking through these landscapes means accepting that visibility, light and direction can all change within a few minutes.
Most of these panoramas came after long walks, carrying the camera across volcanic plateaus, cliffs, valleys, coastal paths. I rarely set out chasing a specific image. The landscape sets its own pace, and the photograph often turns up where I had not expected it.
The panoramic format follows that experience. It does not try to describe a place fully. Instead it tracks how these territories slowly unfold while walking, where attention drifts from one detail to the next and the horizon keeps shifting.
Northern Drift is not a record of four countries. It is what is left after returning, walking and looking long enough for these northern landscapes to become familiar enough to photograph.
