Material Territories - Veins

Veins was photographed along the granite coast of northern Corsica. Walking repeatedly through the same rocky landscapes, I became interested in the fractures, quartz intrusions and mineral lines revealed by erosion.

The photographs isolate these details, allowing the geology to be read at a different scale. Pressure, rupture and slow geological formation become visible across the rock surface. Without altering the landscape, the camera reveals structures that usually remain unnoticed, shaped over millions of years by tectonic forces and weather.

Veins grew from observing how closely looking at stone can gradually change the way we read a landscape.
