Origins & Reconstructions - Waterloo - Topographies of Memory

Some landscapes never quite let go of their history.
Waterloo is a territory where memory, imagination and physical space stay tangled together. More than two centuries after the battle, the fields look ordinary, almost silent. But under that calm, fragments of collective memory keep resonating.
Instead of documenting monuments or restaging past events, I treat the landscape as a living archive. Walking across these sites becomes a way of reading traces,  small shifts in light, topography, atmosphere, absence. The battlefield is no longer represented here; it is felt.
It belongs to Origins & Reconstructions and keeps asking how places hold, transform and pass on memory over time. History survives here not as spectacle, but as a fragile presence folded into the land.
All of these photographs were made with a 4×5 large-format camera. The scale and precision of the medium echo the historical weight of the site, turning each image into a slow look at a landscape where memory lingers long after the event itself is gone.
